Households in England, Scotland and Wales with a domestic electricity account got a non-repayable grant of £400 from the Government between October 2022 and March 2023.
The money-saving expert is urging Britons to “spread the message,” that the deadline to claim these vouchers is just days away.
On The Martin Lewis Money Show this evening, Mr Lewis explained that over £110 million in total – have yet to be redeemed, according to the latest official statistics.
He said: “I don’t know how much more loudly I can spread this message.
“If you’re a prepayment energy customer, you only have 10 days left to claim the £66 or £67 a month vouchers that you got.
“This is specifically for those on non-smart prepay meters.”
Over 1.7million vouchers are still yet to claimed and the deadline is June 30. After this date, people cannot get the vouchers back.
The vouchers will valid, and the money will go back to the Government, so people are urged to “spread the word”
The money-saving expert continued: “This is crucial help. This is over £100million worth not used.
“If you’ve not got the voucher, lost it or are not sure if you’ve used it, contact your energy firm and ask them to reissue it as soon as possible.
“It’s crucial money for some of the poorest in society.”
Non-smart (traditional) prepayment meter customers need to actively redeem the vouchers they’ve been sent.
Once someone has got a voucher from their energy supplier, they need to take it to a Post Office or PayPoint shop to add it to their gas or electricity top-up key or card.
Those paying their energy suppliers directly by direct debit, on receipt of a bill or using smart prepayment meters didn’t need to do anything to get their £400 support payments – the money was either taken off their monthly payment, sent directly to their bank account or applied as credit to their bill or meter.
