Martial wants January exit, Florian Wirtz EXCLUSIVE, Kamara to Newcastle blow

ANTHONY MARTIAL has told Manchester United he wants OUT of the club after seven years at Old Trafford.

But Ralf Rangnick has told him nobody is interested and that he may have to stay till the end of the season to help out in the squad.

Elsewhere, United are pursuing Bayer Leverkusen starlet Florian Wirtz, SunSport can exclusively reveal.

Rangnick is using his knowledge of the Bundesliga to unearth some future stars and the German has told his new colleagues the midfielder, 18, will be his country’s next big player.

Antonio Rudiger would be a “perfect signing” for Manchester United, according to a former Old Trafford star.

The Chelsea defender is out of contract in the summer and former Red Devil Paul Parker says the club should move for the Germany international.

Parker said: “If you had him next to [Raphael] Varane, what a difference you’re talking about.

“Good pace and you’re talking about someone who’s won a World Cup, Champions League and then you’ve got a centre-half, who in the old-school way of talking is actually a leader.”

Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembele looks set to stay at Barcelona with reports suggested he is on the cusp of signing a new contract.

Elsewhere, United are keeping close tabs on Erling Haaland, with the club looking to pounce on a move for the striker should he become available.

Boss Ralf Rangnick is said to have spoken to Haaland’s dad as United look to snap up the Dortmund star, who previously stated Cristiano Ronaldo is the reason he started playing football.

And we’ve the very latest on Edinson Cavani, who is being eyed by Juventus.

  • Rangnick eyes Wolves midfielder Neves

Manchester United will reportedly have to compete with Chelsea for midfield reinforcements in January.

New boss Ralf Rangnick is said to be eyeing Wolves star Ruben Neves as he looks to strengthen in the middle of the park.

But Spanish outlet Fichajes reports Chelsea are also tracking the 24-year-old, who moved to Molineux in July 2017.

Neves is under contract until 2024 and bids will start at something in the region of £35million.

Any transfer battle between the Premier League giants would likely push that fee higher.

  • Ralf Rangnick to make history?

Manchester United have won both of their two Premier League matches so far under Rangnick 1-0.

No manager in the club’s Prem history has kept a clean sheet in each of their first three league matches in charge of the Red Devils.

Will that change this evening when they face Newcastle at St James’ Park?

  • Rangnick to avoid unvaccinated signings

Man Utd boss Ralf Rangnick has revealed he is going to try and avoid signing unvaccinated players in the January transfer window.

When asked about the matter, he said: “Is an issue clubs seriously need to think about.

If you sign player knowing from 1st day hasn’t been vaccinated, you have to be aware, he might not be available, not only for 10 days but regularly cos of COVID trials”

  • More from Rangnick on availability

Ralf Rangnick is confident all his players impacted by Covid should be available for the game against Newcastle tonight.

He said: “Well as far as I could see in training today [Thursday], they are all in good shape.

“They did their homework, they all have their schedules to train at home and they stuck to that schedule and programme.

“From what I saw, I can say most of them, if not all of them, might be available, and of course I would have to take some difficult decisions as to who will be in the squad, who will be in the starting XI.”

  • Man Utd’s five-man transfer shortlist

The January transfer window will soon be open. And by that time, Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick should have a better idea about his squad and the type of player he’d like to bring in.

The central defensive midfield position feels like it’s been a problem for United since Sir Alex Ferguson departed in 2013.

And it’s reportedly Rangnick’s main area of concern as he tries to lead United in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup in the second half of the season.

So, if Rangnick is granted funds in January, who are some of the names in the frame to help boost his squad? United fan Tom McDermott took a look and came up with this shortlist.

    • Amadou Haidara
    • Jude Bellingham
    • Frenkie de Jong
    • Kieran Trippier
    • Tyler Adams
  • More Rangnick on wantaway Martial

Despite reports of Sevilla’s interest, Rangnick claimed nobody has made a move for Martial yet.

He said: “We spoke on Wednesday at length. He told me he’s been at United now for seven years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else.

“I could follow his thoughts but on the other hand it’s also important to see the situation of the club.

“We have Covid times, we have three competitions in which we still have high ambitions.

“It should not only be in the interest of the player it should also be in the interest of the club.

“There is no offer and as long as this is the case he will stay.”

  • Anthony Martial transfer exit latest

Antony Martial has been told to focus on Manchester United – because nobody else wants him, writes MARTIN BLACKBURN.

Interim boss Ralf Rangnick confirmed the French international striker, 26, has told him he wants to leave the club.

United are still in three competitions and seem certain to have a busy end to the season.

  • Rangnick team news for Newcastle

Ralf Rangnick has issued some positive team news ahead of Manchester United’s trip to Newcastle this evening.

He said: “Yes, as you know, we had last week, the last training session on Thursday, on that day we had eight outfield players and three goalkeepers and then we closed down the training ground for four days in order to break the chain.

“Today was the third day of training this week, we started on Tuesday, we trained yesterday and today [Thursday].

“Today we had 25 outfield players. Paul Pogba is the only one missing, everyone else was on board. The development in the last week was extremely positive.”

  • Good Morning Red Devils fans

Manchester United travel to Newcastle this evening as they look to keep pace in the top four race.

Arsenal and Tottenham both recorded resounding victories on Boxing Day.

And Ralf Rangnick knows his side can’t afford to slip up at St James’ Park tonight.

Meanwhile, Man United and Chelsea are reportedly plotting bids for Wolves star Ruben Neves.

Fichajes claims the Portuguese playmaker has impressed both Rangnick and Thomas Tuchel.

And the two bosses could be set to go to war next month with starting bids of £35million.

Finally, Anthony Martial has been told to focus on Manchester United – because nobody has made an offer to sign him.

Rangnick said: “We spoke on Wednesday. We spoke at length. He explained to me he’s been at Manchester United now for seven years and he feels it’s the right time for a change, to go somewhere else.

“In a way this is understandable, I could follow his thoughts but on the other hand, it’s also important to see the situation of the club.

“I told him as long as there is no club showing interest in him, and it should not only be in the interest of the player it should also be in the interest of the club.

“So far, as far as I know, there has been no offer from any other club and as long as this is the case he will stay.”

  • United stars given Rangnick homework

Ralf Rangnick said that his Manchester United stars missed some key days of learning due to the Covid outbreak at Carrington — but most of them did their homework.

He said: “Obviously during those four days we couldn’t do it. I spoke with most of the players who were in isolation or positively tested.

“I spoke with 16 or 17 players individually over the phone to hear how they are and how they were feeling. But we did a lot of work in between with my coaching staff, preparing video footage.

“We’ll follow up on that because it’s important that they really know what it’s about, how we should play, how to find the best possible balance of playing offensively.

“We must make use of the offensive players we have but at the same time be able to defend and make sure we get further clean sheets in the future.”

  • Ralf reveals no Martial interest

Anthony Martial has been told to focus on Manchester United – because nobody has made an offer to sign him.

Ralf Rangnick said: “We spoke on Wednesday.

  • De Gea enjoying Rangnick training

David De Gea has lifted the lid on Ralf Rangnick’s training methods.

He said: “It’s good to have the whole team back to train properly altogether and then, of course, see they are all safe. They are back, they are all training, they are fine, so it’s great to be together again.

“We’ve been training hard, of course. It’s very intense, every training session, every moment with him [Rangnick] is intense. You have to give 100 per cent every time in training and in the games.

“Let’s see. It’s just the beginning, it’s been a couple of weeks, so let’s see in the future. The team is training with energy, with pace, and now we have to show that in big games.”

  • Man Utd’s biggest ever sales

Man Utd could lose several players when the January transfer window opens.

But will they make anywhere close to the £80million they received from Real Madrid for Cristiano Ronaldo over 12 years ago?

  • Exclusive by Alan Nixon

Newcastle are making a dramatic bid to sign Marseille midfield star Boubacar Kamara — from under the noses of Premier League rivals.

The Toon’s transfer team have lined up talks with Kamara’s agents — and hope to agree a deal with him before sorting out a fee with the French giants.

The anchorman, 22, is a free agent at the end of the season but Newcastle plan to fix personal terms and offer as much as £10million to buy him in January.

That kind of money could see off other Premier League interest from the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, as most of Kamara’s fan club want to wait until he can go for nothing in the summer.

A United source said: “The new manager knows practically everybody in German football and there is huge excitement behind the scenes about what it could mean for United in the next few years.

“Germany is a hotbed of talent and he has already flagged up a handful of names. Everyone is hoping Rangnick can help United steal a march on some of our rivals.”

  • United and Chelsea eye Neves

  • Ronaldo’s mum remembers ace’s roots

Cristiano Ronaldo’s mum made sure a gift bought from Sporting Lisbon’s club shop took pride of place under the Man Utd star’s Christmas tree.

Doting Dolores Aveiro, 67 on New Year’s Day, has made no secret of the fact she would like her son to make an emotional return to the team he left for his first spell at United.

  • Saka ‘stamp’ leaves fans fuming

Norwich fans were left fuming after Bukayo Saka escaped punishment for what was perceived as a deliberate ‘stamp’ in their game against Arsenal.

It all happened in the 52nd minute, when the England international, 20, was involved in an incident with on-loan Manchester United defender Brandon Williams.

But VAR and the officials deemed that Saka unintentionally landed his studs on the full-back’s thigh and ruled it wasn’t worth a look.

One fan raged: “Var is so obviously corrupt. Clear stamp by saka and mclean clearly pulled back”.

Another added: “Absolutely disgraceful stamp from Saka on Brandon Williams. Can’t believe that’s not been reviewed for a red card. The boy is out of control.”
