Margot Robbie opens up about her childhood and reveals she wasn’t a big Barbie doll fan
Scheduled for release on July 21, the Barbie movie has stirred excitement among fans who are eagerly anticipating their beloved doll’s cinematic debut. However, what may come as a revelation is that the movie’s leading lady is none other than the highly skilled Margot Robbie, who has disclosed a lesser-known facet of her childhood that sets her apart from the conventional Barbie Girl image. Surprisingly, the actress has shared that she was not someone who played with dolls during her early years.
During an interview with a US-based news portal, the actress candidly talked about her upbringing in Queensland, Australia, revealing her unconventional childhood play preferences that didn’t revolve around Barbie dolls. Unlike the millions who adore Barbie worldwide, Robbie’s childhood games were quite different – she preferred a more adventurous and outdoorsy approach, describing herself as a “roll-around-in-the-mud kind of gal.” Nonetheless, she fondly recalls occasional encounters with her sister’s and cousin’s Barbies, adding her own unique and quirky twist to the playtime experience.
She further stated that Barbie dolls were not her go-to toy. When asked about her memories of playing with Barbie dolls, she said, “I didn’t personally have any that I can recall.”
According to Margot, she was a girl who sought a different kind of adventure during her childhood. Her preferences leaned towards unconventional play choices, and when she did interact with dolls on occasion, she opted for the offbeat ones – what she humorously described as ‘all weird’. She added, “I think they were all so janky because they were not well cared for. They were all weird Barbies.”
