Marcus Rashford stalling on new Manchester United contract
Rashford, 25, is enjoying the season of his life at the Theatre of Dreams and he’s already scored 27 goals this term.
United are understandably determined to tie Rashford down to new terms and the striker is happy at the Theatre of Dreams.
However, Rashford knows he’s in a strong position and United have been reluctant to significantly increase his salary as they want to keep wages at a stable level following Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit.
There’s an exception that Rashford’s importance to the club and progression this season means his salary will have to go beyond a certain threshold.
But the Sun say the forward is in no rush to sign a new deal and will instead wait until any prospective takeover of the club is completed.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim are both expected to submit bids today, having asked for an extension to Wednesday’s 9pm deadline.
The process threatens to drag on for many months and may not be resolved in time for next season.
At that point, Rashford will have less than 12 months to run on his deal and he could sign a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs from January 1st.
Paris Saint-Germain have made no secret of their desire to sign Rashford but will not do so unless they can sign him for free.
