Manushi Chillar recalls getting stuck in a sandstorm while shooting Prithviraj in the Thar desert

Miss World Manushi Chillar is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Prithviraj by Yash Raj Films. The period drama stars her and Akshay Kumar in lead roles. The movie revolves around the life and valour of the mighty King Prithviraj Chauhan, a role essayed by Akshay Kumar. Manushi Chillar plays the role of his beloved Princess Sanyogita.

In a recent interview, Manushi Chillar revealed that she got stuck in the middle of a sandstorm in the desert of Rajasthan while shooting an important scene. Parts of the movie were shot at Jaisalmer, in the middle of the Thar desert. Sandstorms are very common in that area, and Manushi Chillar got stuck in the middle of the sandstorm, while the whole team had to evacuate urgently.

Recalling the incident, Manushi said, “I was on top of a sand dune and the crew had to shoot me from below. I could see them motioning to me, trying to say something but I couldn’t hear anything. I could see them waving and shouting but the voice didn’t carry and I thought that they were talking about the scene. Suddenly someone from the choreography team just pushed me down, and I literally rolled down the sand dune and they caught hold of me!”

She also added, “It was a little scary when the sand-storm blew over us, with vans shaking and a black out. I was whisked off to my vanity van and we all took cover! We resumed shooting after some time but it was a strong sand storm!”

Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s directorial Prithviraj also stars Sonu Sood and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. The director is best known for the television epic Chanakya and the movie Pinjar. The movie releases theatrically on June 3 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
