Manly confirms plan to sign Shane Flanagan
Manly’s new coaching room is taking shape, with the club confirming it is in talks with premiership-winning coach Shane Flanagan and hopes to sign him as an assistant sooner rather than later.
Flanagan would join as the senior assistant on a brand new coaching staff led by Anthony Seibold in 2023.
Flanagan has worked at the Dragons as an assistant and as a consultant since leaving Cronulla.

He will link up with former Rabbitohs and Broncos boss Seibold, who will reportedly be offered a three-year deal by Manly to turn the club around as it draws closer to announcing him as its head coach.
Flanagan has been linked with several coaching roles since leaving the Sharks, but has been limited to assistant coaching consultancy roles with the Dragons in the meantime.
The 56-year-old, who oversaw their drought-breaking title win in 2016, resigned in early 2019 after after being banned for a second time by the NRL.
Flanagan was deregistered by the NRL in December of 2018 for breaching the terms of his 2014 supplements scandal ban; he was not meant to have contact with the club during that year, but was proven to have repeatedly done so.
If the Manly deal is confirmed, he will be the second premiership-winning coach of the past decade to secure a new job for 2023, with Michael Maguire on Tuesday announced as a consultant for Ricky Stuart in Canberra.
