Manchester will bask in 28C heat as thunderstorms lash most of the country
This week’s heatwave is set to continue for a little bit longer as a sizzling 28C is forecast for Greater Manchester on Thursday (June 23). It’ll even be hotter than Ibiza, with 27C predicted for the popular holiday destination.
There will be uninterrupted sunshine on Wednesday afternoon with the mercury reaching highs of 24C. It will remain warm overnight, with temperatures only dropping to 15C at 4am.
Manchester will bask in wall to wall sunshine throughout Thursday, with clouds beginning to gather from around 4pm. It’ll be a balmy evening too with the temperatures still a warm 22C at 9pm.

While Manchester soaks up the sun on Thursday, a yellow warning for thunderstorms has been issued by the Met Office for large parts of the country. The warning is in place from 10am until midnight and covers the south. No other warnings are in place for the rest of the week.
Forecasters predict a few light showers overnight in Manchester but no thunderstorms are predicted. Temperatures will also remain warm, only reaching a low of 17C at 4am.
According to the Met Office, Friday will be cooler in Greater Manchester, although the mercury is expected to reach 20C at 4pm. A few showers are forecast in the afternoon.
This pattern will continue into the weekend and for the week ahead, with highs of 19C predicted for Saturday afternoon, along with a few showers. Rain is also expected on Sunday and Monday, so it may be worth swapping the sun cream for a waterproof.
