Manchester United’s powerful XI if Luka Jovic and two more players join before August 31

Manchester United have already signed Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane so far this summer. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side aren’t done yet. And Real Madrid hitman Luka Jovic is the latest player being linked with the Red Devils.

Manchester United, according to Tribal Football, have held discussions about signing Jovic in private.

Despite landing Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, Solskjaer is said to feel more reinforcements are required.

United know Edinson Cavani can’t play every week at the age of 34, while Mason Greenwood still has much learning to do if he’s to make the No 9 role his own.

So that’s why Jovic is being eyed.

And, with that being the case, Express Sport will now take a look at how United could line up with the Serbia international – as well as Kieran Trippier and Ruben Neves.

Defence: Trippier, Maguire, Varane, Shaw

Three of United’s four defenders now pick themselves.

Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane are poised to start most matches in the heart of Solskjaer’s back four, with Luke Shaw then at left-back.

But United are still open to signing Trippier providing Atletico Madrid lower their asking price.

If that happens, he could force Aaron Wan-Bissaka out of the team.

And it would also give the Red Devils a new dimension going forward, with Trippier a specialist in attack.

Midfield: Neves, Fernandes, Pogba

It was recently claimed that United had a deal for Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves ‘relatively far down the line’.

So, with that being the case, we’re including him in our XI.

Neves would likely sit deep in midfield, dictating the game and allowing Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes to flourish.

Pogba is expected to stay, despite being linked with Paris Saint-Germain.

And United are set to build their team around Fernandes again, having seen the Portugal international shine over the past 18 months.

Forwards: Sancho, Jovic, Rashford

With United needing to manage Cavani’s action, Jovic could be signed.

And, if that happens, the Real Madrid star is primed to play in the No 9 role ahead of the Uruguay international.

United will be without Marcus Rashford when the new season kicks off, with the England international set to have shoulder surgery.

But, when he’s fit again, he’ll walk into the team on the left wing.

Sancho, then, should be deployed on the right wing.
