Manchester United Women vs Man City LIVE updates
Manchester United Women will be looking to take advantage of Manchester City’s continued struggles as the two rivals contest the latest derby tonight.
After drawing 2-2 in the Women’s Super League last month, United have drawn all three of their following games, beating Durham on penalties to progress this competition. City have recorded big wins over Everton, Leicester and Durham since, but have also lost heavily twice to Chelsea.
Such inconsistent form has left City ninth in the WSL and manager Gareth Taylor was forced to deny he is under pressure following the 4-0 hammering by Chelsea on Sunday. United are in a better position in the league, but a draw against Everton at the weekend saw them slip to fifth.
Given tonight is the Continental Cup, both Taylor and United boss Marc Skinner will look to make changes to their sides, although they will know the importance of a derby win to boost morale. Since United’s reformation in 2018, City have won three of the seven meetings between these sides, with the Reds’ only two wins coming in this competition — one being on penalties.
City currently lead the group with six points from two games, and can all-but guarantee a place in the next round with a win tonight., United have two points from one game so far.
