Manchester United loanee Reece Devine returns from Scottish Premiership loan

Manchester United loanee Reece Devine has returned from his loan at Scottish Premiership side St Johnstone.

He joined the Scottish Cup holders in the summer but has played his last game for the club with Callum Davidson opting to reshape his squad as they battle relegation.

The Reds ‘ left-back made 11 appearances for the Saints in a disappointing season so far for Davidson’s side who have struggled to find the back of the net, resulting in their slip down the table.

Sadly for the 20-year-old, despite early flashes of promise, Devine soon found himself looking for a way back into the side.

Prior to his return to Carrington, he didn’t feature in the Perth side’s last three before the early-winter break.

His last start came at Ibrox in the 2-0 defeat to Rangers in mid-December, but a resilient display wasn’t enough to earn a return to regular first-team football.

“I’ve been training hard and will always be ready when the manager calls upon me,” Devine said after the defeat to the Scottish Premiership holders.

“I always try to do my best. I’m staying fit, doing the right things and I got my chance again on Wednesday.”

It’s likely he will return to United’s under-23 as he leaves McDiarmid Park with St Johnstone rock-bottom and without a win since October. Brighton’s Lars Dendoncker also returns from loan after a similar spell away from the AMEX Stadium.
