Manchester United left red-faced as three ‘shortlisted’ stars reject Erik ten Hag
Manchester United have seemingly been rejected by three transfer targets after Sergino Dest, Yann Sommer and Kevin Trapp reportedly opted to stay at Barcelona, Borussia Monchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt. The Red Devils are set for a frantic sprint to the finish line in the summer transfer window after already landing four new additions for Erik ten Hag but the spending is unlikely to stop there.
Now United are set to pursue a new forward, midfielder, goalkeeper and potentially right-back should Aaron Wan-Bissaka quit Old Trafford after three seasons with the Red Devils.
However, their plans to strike deals for a number of other targets have hit a snag in recent days.
According to The Times, right-back target Dest has already informed Barcelona that he wishes to remain at Camp Nou this summer.
Furthermore, Swiss goalkeeper Sommer is said to have decided he intends to remain in Germany with Gladbach.

He is said to be the subject of initial loan interest from United, who want him to come in and provide competition for David de Gea.
Newcastle would be willing to let Dubravka depart too as they already have cover for new No 1 Nick Pope in the form of Karl Darlow.
At right-back there are two fresh names that could fall under consideration in the form of Thomas Meunier and Denzel Dumfries.
Both players are said to be admired by Ten Hag, who has settled on picking Diogo Dalot ahead of Wan-Bissaka – much like predecessor Ralf Rangnick.
For now, a new attacker remains the priority with United set to launch a fresh bid for Ajax star Antony.
The Brazilian was already the subject of a £67m offer before the Dutch giants ruled their player was not for sale.
However, with Antony pushing for the move behind the scenes, there is a growing feeling that Ajax could be forced to accept.
The 22-year-old asked to be left out of the Ajax squad that beat Sparta Rotterdam 1-0 on Sunday in the Eredivisie.
