Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has four players stand out in Everton win

Manchester United warmed up for the start of their Premier League campaign with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Everton on Saturday. Mason Greenwood opened the scoring, with Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot then finding the net. So Express Sport will now take a look at the four players who stood out.

Mason Greenwood

Greenwood ended last season in fine form, scoring six goals from his final eight appearances across all competitions.

And he looks like he may enter this campaign with the confidence flowing again.

Greenwood opened the scoring with a neat finish from a tight angle, capitalising on a mix-up involving Jordan Pickford.

And he very nearly added a second, with some good defending from the Toffees preventing him from adding to his tally.

Everyone thought Greenwood would struggle following the arrival of Jadon Sancho but, playing on the right wing, he looks a galvanised presence in the team.

Harry Maguire

Captain fantastic.

United really missed Maguire during the final few weeks of last season, with the England international missing the Europa League defeat to Villarreal through injury.

But with Maguire in the side, United look a lot more solid.

And they also look more threatening at set-pieces, with the former Leicester star scoring a terrific thunderbolt header.

The prospect of Maguire and Raphael Varane being defensive partners, certainly, will excite both Solskjaer and the fans.

Donny van de Beek

Donny van de Beek has spent the last few months and weeks getting into shape.

The Netherlands international is a far muscular figure now and, against Everton, impressed during the first half of the contest.

Van de Beek looked good on the ball, helping to keep the Red Devils ticking over in the middle of the park.

And he was good off it, too, harrying Everton’s midfield and pressing them into making mistakes.

United will be hoping Van de Beek comes good this term, having struggled to adjust since his move from Ajax last summer.
