Man with penis on arm given new 6-inch member
In 2010, Malcolm MacDonald’s penis fell off. This was due to a horrifying blood infection while he was homeless and heavily using drugs. Thanks to trailblazing work by doctors, they were able to build him a new one and graft it onto his arm.
Revealed in the Channel 4 documentary ‘The Man with a Penis on His Arm’, the documentary follows Malcolm and two other men who have had new or replacement penises constructed for them by surgeons. Malcom’s penis was due to be reattached in 2015, but a lack of oxygen in his blood meant in it initially had to be grafted to his arm.
Making light of the situation, he said: “It’s something to tell the grandchildren, isn’t it,” and commented he learnt to hold his darts under the grafted member.

Though he can laugh now, the Channel 4 documentary shows the realities of living with a penis on your arm. Calling the doctors before his operation, he says: “My life is f*****…I’m gonna cut it off soon” and that he felt less of a man without a penis attached to his groin, “Everyone has let me down”.
Asked by one of the production staff if Malcolm was coping well with his losing his appendage, his friend commented: “Keep it real bruv, his c*** fell off in his hand”. Malcom also admitted he used to drink 18 pints a day and commented that he thought “Don’t have a willy, f*** it”.
A father, once with a steady job, when his relationship hit the rocks he turned to drugs and ended up sleeping on the streets. After an abscess developed on his buttock, he decided to pop it himself but introduced a blood infection to his body. His penis then fell off while in the toilet.
Malcolm has previously described the years without a penis attached to his groin as a “nightmare” which had a profound mental impact on his sense of self worth and masculinity – a theme the documentary explores. Discussing the £50,000 procedure which was finally successful after a nine-hour operation, he said: “The first thing I did was look down and I was like, ‘Oh my days. They got it this time’. I feel like a real man again”.
The six-inch member was created by Professor David Ralph at London’s University College Hospital, made out of flesh from Malcolm’s arm. Eventually, Malcolm will be able to finally have sex again with the use of an inbuilt pump in his scrotum, which will fill his organ with a saline solution.
He quipped: “I get it. It’s not every day you see a man with a penis on his arm. Of course I see the funny side – I have to. I don’t have any other option. If I couldn’t laugh at the willy on my arm, I’d be finished”.
“Can you imagine six years of your life with a penis swinging on your arm? It’s been a nightmare, but it’s gone now — the little b****r. The worst thing is when you cuddle your nan at Christmas and it hits her in the eye.”
“This could be a turning point in my life,” he says “My luck in life hasn’t been too good so far, but it can only go bad for so long, can’t it?”.
