Man Utd’s five options after Ralf Rangnick rips apart Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw

Manchester United boss Ralf Rangnick reportedly said Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Luke Shaw weren’t good enough for the club during a recent meeting with his seniors at Old Trafford. Therefore, it’s feasible the Red Devils pair will feature less and less as the season goes on – with the pair already struggling for action. So Express Sport will now take a look at United’s five options when it comes to the duo.

Play Diogo Dalot

United thought they were onto a winner when they signed Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace in 2019.

That decision came just a year after Jose Mourinho had invested in Diogo Dalot, who he believed could be the club’s heir to Gary Neville.

Dalot barely played under Solskjaer, being loaned out to AC Milan and spending the majority of his time stuck on the bench.

But he’s become a regular fixture under Rangnick and received the man of the match award from BT Sport after the victory over Brentford on Wednesday.

Dalot, if he maintains this form, could end up saving the club millions in potential transfer fees.

Sign Ricardo Pereira or Max Aarons

United are admirers of Leicester star Ricardo Pereira.

And though the Foxes have endured a difficult season, the 28-year-old has still impressed when called upon.

Therefore, United could upgrade on Wan-Bissaka if they were to bring the Portuguese defender to the club.

Another potential target for United is Max Aarons.

Norwich City are likely to go down this season and, therefore, the right-back may be available for a reduced fee come the end of the season.

In order to avoid that happening, Norwich could even be tempted to move Aarons on now -though it would further damage their hopes of staying in the top flight.

Play Alex Telles

One solution for United when it comes to Luke Shaw is to continue to play Alex Telles instead.

Like Dalot, the Brazil international rarely got a chance during Solskjaer’s time at the helm.

Yet the former Porto star has been impressive under Rangnick, especially in recent matches away from home against both Brentford and Aston Villa.

Telles offers United plenty going forward.

And that’s in stark contrast to Shaw, who has regressed following his heroics for England at the European Championships last summer.

Play Alvaro Fernandez

Another solution for United at left-back could be youngster Alvaro Fernandez.

Real Madrid were gutted at losing the Spaniard back in 2020, having hoped to fast-track him into their starting XI.

Fernandez has sparkled for United at youth level and Los Blancos, certainly, believe he’s one for the future.

With Shaw in such bad form, however, what about now?

Fernandez is highly-rated behind the scenes and anybody who has tracked his development knows that first-team football is likely to come sooner, rather than later.

Sign…somebody

Left-back is a really tricky place to improve the squad.

Just ask Chelsea, who have been mulling over their options ever since Ben Chilwell’s season-ending injury.

One option for the Blues is Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico. United, who have a good relationship with the Dutch giants, could do a lot worse than hijacking a deal.

Chelsea are also admirers of Layvin Kurzawa, who may be another player for the Red Devils to consider.
