While there were no new faces at Old Trafford, the club confirmed a number of loan exits on transfer deadline day with Kovar’s exit confirmed shortly after the 11pm deadline.
The Czech shot stopper has signed a new deal until June 2023 with the option to extend by a further year.
And with United well stocked in goal with Dean Henderson remaining at the club alongside senior options David de Gea and Tom Heaton, he will hope to secure first-team opportunities at Burton.
‘Kovar will come in and make life hard for Ben [Garratt] and provide some good competition at the club,’ said Burton boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
‘He will add some great competition, he is a young keeper and we felt like we needed another one in the door.’
United also allowed Donny van de Beek to leave the club on loan on deadline day with the Dutchman joining Everton for the rest of the season.
Anthony Martial and Amad Diallo were also allowed to leave on temporary deals, joining Sevilla and Rangers respectively with Axel Tuanzebe joined Napoli earlier this month.
The club did however block exits for Jesse Lingard and Dean Henderson who will remain at Old Trafford until the end of the season.
