Man Utd think Ralf Rangnick appointment gives them the edge for Erling Haaland transfer
Manchester United reportedly think the imminent appointment of Ralf Rangnick gives them the edge when it comes to signing Erling Haaland next summer. The Borussia Dortmund star remains the club’s top transfer target, despite the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. But securing his signature will be far from straightforward.
Manchester United have, at present, a plethora of attacking riches at their disposal.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani are still going strong, despite the pair entering the twilight years of their respective careers.
Mason Greenwood remains a talent for the future, while Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford have shown signs of improvement in recent matches.
And United also have Amad and Facundo Pellistri on their books, too.
Despite that, however, the Red Devils are understood to have earmarked Haaland as their main target for next summer.
Originally, they’d pondered trying to secure his signature at the end of last season.

Barcelona aren’t entirely out of the hunt, even if their financial situation makes a transfer difficult to broker.
And though Real Madrid are prioritising the arrival of Kylian Mbappe, a move to Spain can’t be ruled out for Haaland either.
Mino Raiola, Haaland’s agent, recently opened up on the Borussia Dortmund striker.
Ominously for United, he hinted the talented forward would prefer a move to La Liga rather than the Premier League.
Raiola said: “At the moment you cannot talk about anything, if you want about Christmas.
“I am not talking about the market, because it is too early.
“[Haaland] likes, loves, Spain. Especially his house here. It is too early to know where he is going to play next year.
“It’s not good to talk about that either.”
United have raided Dortmund three times over the past decade.
Shinji Kagawa moved back in 2012, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sancho then joining in 2016 and 2021 respectively.
