Man Utd takeover D-day arrives as Glazers make 3 requests to bidders
After five months of speculation, including two bidding rounds, the Manchester United takeover process will take a significant step towards its conclusion today. D-day has arrived for the club’s suitors ahead of this evening’s 10pm deadline for third and final offers.
United left Tottenham Hotspur disappointed on Thursday after squandering another 2-0 lead at half-time to draw 2-2. Erik ten Hag’s side still have work to do to secure a top-four finish, starting against European hopefuls Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday.
But fans will quickly forget the game in north London, with today’s focus revolving around the club’s potential sale. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani are expected to submit bids to take control of the Red Devils, though the former’s approach would allow the Glazers to stay.
US investment companies Elliott Management, the Carlyle Group and Ares Management are also set to submit bids for a minority stake. It would allow the Glazers to keep control while funding the redevelopment of Old Trafford and the Carrington training ground.
