Anthony Martial looks to have turned his Manchester United career around and is now set for talks over a new contract, according to reports.

The Frenchman’s spell at Old Trafford appeared to be coming to an end when he moved to Sevilla on loan for the second half of last season, although it wasn’t sure what his future would hold after a pretty awful spell in Spain.

However, under new Red Devils manager Erik ten Hag, things have changed for the forward and he is very much in the Dutchman’s plans for the coming season and further ahead.

The 26-year-old has only made one appearance so far this campaign due to injury, but Ten Hag is keen to get him back into the team as soon as possible after an impressive pre-season in a front three alongside Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho.

So impressed has Ten Hag been with the former Monaco man that Manchester United are keen to extend Martial’s contract beyond his current deal which runs until 2024.

The Sun report that talks are due between the club and the striker’s representatives, with United wanting to avoid him heading into the final year of his contract.

Martial’s current contract is, remarkably, worth £250,000-a-week so United will be keen to get some return on that investment given he hasn’t started a Premier League game for them since October last year.

Martial’s Manchester United career peaked in the 2019/20 season when he netted 23 goals in all competitions and 17 in the Premier League, however, it has been much worse since then.

The following campaign so him score just seven times in all competitions and last year he netted once for United and once on his loan trip to Sevilla.

Ten Hag, though, has seen something in him and is keen to unleash him on the Premier League again as soon as possible.
