Man Utd star Jesse Lingard details Cristiano Ronaldo conversation with Mason Mount

Manchester United star Jesse Lingard has admitted speaking to Chelsea ace Mason Mount about Cristiano Ronaldo celebrations as they discussed what to do if they scored against Andorra for England. The Red Devils ace netted twice and his first seemed to be a tribute to the Portuguese icon.

United star Lingard’s goal celebration for England echoed a signature move from Ronaldo and the playmaker has admitted to discussions with Mount.

The revelation was made after England’s demolition of Andorra at Wembley which ended 4-0 to give the home side a major boost in their World Cup qualifying bid.

The Three Lions are firmly in control after five wins from five with Poland trailing by five points already and much can be put down to the ability of Lingard.

The United star was given a rare start for his country and he did not disappoint – netting two while Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka also got on the scoresheet.

For the playmaker’s first goal, it appeared to be a scuffed shot that squirmed under the Andorra goalkeeper following a sustained period of pressure.

But there was no mistaking the celebration – a trademark move by Ronaldo doing a jumping twirl before ending by stretching the arms out downwards to strike a pose.

However, there was a Lingard twist with him adding in his own “JLingz” gesture midway through and the 27-year-old has explained all, revealing Chelsea ace Mount had his input.

He said: “Me and Mason [Mount] were thinking of celebrations this week and obviously we mixed my celebration with Cristiano’s I said I’d do it.

“Yeah it’s a little welcoming gift [for Ronaldo] but yeah he’ll settle in quickly he’ll help this team brilliantly.”

It comes after Ronaldo’s grand return to United, where he left 12 years ago but has come back after a sensational transfer from Juventus.

United fans are buzzing to see the five-time Ballon d’Or back in red and records were shattered when his No. 7 shirt became available in shops.

The Red Devils face Newcastle at the weekend in what is expected to be a complete sellout at Old Trafford as they await to see their old hero once again.
