Man Utd star Cristiano Ronaldo notches 700th club goal vs Everton
Cristiano Ronaldo reached 700 club goals in impressive fashion on Sunday as the Manchester United forward slotted past Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford at Goodison Park. The Portuguese is in a tough spell but he was brought off the bench to replace the injured Anthony Martial and it didn’t take long for him to make his mark.
Erik ten Hag and Ronaldo haven’t forged a particularly harmonious player-manager partnership, according to various reports. The 37-year-old has often found himself on the bench in recent weeks after supposedly asking to leave Old Trafford during the summer.
Marcus Rashford has performed well through the middle but Martial was selected to lead the line against Everton after netting twice against Omonia Nicosia on Thursday. In the same game, Ronaldo missed a host of good chances to leave his season’s meagre goals tally at one.
He only needed one bite at the cherry on Sunday, however, as a superb tackle and pass from Casemiro sent him through on goal, where he slotted capably under the onrushing Pickford.

“He is not happy he didn’t play [last] Sunday [against Manchester City],” Ten Hag told reporters. “The question was what happens on the training pitch. There he is happy. But he is pissed off when he is not playing. That is clear.
“I don’t see he’s unhappy, he’s happy, he’s training well, he’s enjoying it. Everyone is training well, there’s a good spirit, that’s not the point, it’s important as it’s a base to work well.”
