Man Utd news LIVE: Sheikh Jassim makes final decision after Jim Ratcliffe’s bid in huge takeover TWIST, Braithwaite blow

Sheikh Jassim makes takeover decision

Sheikh Jassim will not increase his £5million bid to buy Manchester United.

Jassim is fronting a Qatari group’s attempt to purchase the Red Devils from the Glazer family.

Earlier this week, reports emerged that Man Utd’s owners are considering Ratcliffe’s £1.5bn offer for a 25 per cent stake in the club.

But according to The Times, Jassim and the Qataris see Ratcliffe’s offer as an attempt to force them into increasing their bid.

The Glazers are insistent their asking price remains £6bn for a complete buyout of the club.

Key detail ‘cut’ from Beckham doc

A key detail was left out of David Beckham’s new documentary.

The former Manchester United midfielder is the star of his own Netflix series, charting his life and including some interesting tales.

However, one notable talking point was omitted – his role as an ambassador for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Explaining why the detail was left out, director Fisher Stevens told The Independent: “It just felt kind of dated.

“Honestly, if I had another episode, we could have gotten into that. But it just didn’t feel as relevant. When you’re talking about a guy’s 48 years, that was [just] a moment.”

United duo named in worst team of the week

Manchester United pair Andre Onana and Diogo Dalot have both been named in the Champions League’s worst team of the week.

Based on SofaScore ratings, the duo have been included after United’s loss to Galatasaray on Tuesday.

Onana endured a particularly difficult night, with his mistakes leading to a penalty and the visitors’ winning goal.

The defeat means United sit bottom of group A after losing both their first two matches.

More from Neville

Gary Neville has ripped into Manchester United as his former club endure their worst start for 39 years.

The pundit told talkSPORT: “There are very few players that excel at Manchester United in this last ten years, they were all great players when they came to the club, they were all wanted by other clubs.

“They won these players off of other clubs and then they end up coming to Manchester United and they end up not succeeding and not performing to their levels, why is that?

“It’s because it’s not culturally correct to accept players in the way that it should do and we need to get that right.”

Neville slams United’s slow start

Gary Neville has slammed his former club Manchester United amid their worst start to a season for 39 years.

The Red Devils have lost four of their opening seven Premier League matches and have tasted defeat in both matches so far in the Champions League.

When asked what he has made of United’s start to the campaign, Neville told talkSPORT: “Scruffy, very scruffy. Up and down, inconsistent, injuries and lots of things going wrong on the pitch, lots of things going wrong off the pitch.

“I feel very sorry for the manager, I know a lot of people will say he’s got to do a lot better, and that’s fine, he’s the Manchester United manager, but there are a lot of big problems at the club that managers have found over the last ten years.

“I think until those problems are solved we’ll still continue to see underperforming teams, underperforming players, it’s become a graveyard for coaches and players – it’s not too strong a term.”

United to battle for new sporting director

Manchester United are keen to hire Andrea Berta as their new sporting director.

According to The Independent, Berta is the club’s favoured target to take up the vacant role.

The Italian currently holds the same position with Atletico Madrid and has been with the La Liga giants since 2017.

Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain are both also interested, though, the report adds.
