Man Utd hero Evra in ‘heated’ chat with Man City staff after Real Madrid win
City put in one of the best team performances in Champions League history as they humbled the reigning champions at the Etihad. A double from Bernando Silva gave the Sky Blues a comfortable first-half advantage before goals from Manuel Akanji and Julian Alvarez sealed the win.
However, there was still some tension after the game as a member of the City staff clashed with Evra after the game. The Frenchman, who was clad in a bright red suit, engaged in a heated discussion on the pitch as he took a break from his TV duties.
It is not clear what was discussed but more staff members got involved later on with Evra looking visibly annoyed.
Evra’s attire had caught attention before the game with his red suit difficult to miss. He explained his decision in a video on Rio Ferdinand’s Twitter page. “What’s the problem man,” he said to his former Red Devils’ team-mate. “Forever a red.”
The incident is unlikely to have any impact on City’s celebrations as they enjoy reaching the Champions League final for the second time in four years. They will go into the showpiece in Istanbul as clear favourites with opponents Inter Milan enduring something of a subpar campaign in the Serie A.
The Sky Blues will not have much time to celebrate with the small matter of the Premier League title race to settle at the weekend. The team can lift the trophy in front of their own fans at the Etihad if they beat Chelsea in their final home game of the season.
Jack Grealish was keen to downplay their chances in the final by stressing the team have other games to focus on first.
“Every game that we play we try and dominate the ball,” he told BT Sport. “The manager is a genius, I’m sure he’ll watch a lot of their games and tell us bits where we can hurt them.
“We know it’ll be a tough game, probably against a team that will sit in and try and counter-attack. They have a lot of experience, I watched their game last night. You don’t get to a final – well, you can get to a final with luck – but you’ve still got to be a good team and they are a good team.
“You’ve got to give them respect but we’ve got a few more important games up until then so we’ll focus on them.”
