Man Utd finally agree Sofyan Amrabat transfer deal as two Prem offers snubbed

Manchester United have made the breakthrough in their pursuit of Sofyan Amrabat after finally agreeing a deal with Fiorentina for the Moroccan. The Red Devils are set land the combative midfielder on an initial loan which includes an option to sign the player permanently next summer for around £22million.

Amrabat has been patiently waiting for the chance to move to Old Trafford but he has had to bide his time despite being frozen out at Fiorentina.

United will pay an initial loan fee worth around £8.5m and will have an option-to-buy worth £17m plus £4m in add-ons.

Although it seems a complex negotiation, United will just be happy to have this deal over the line after weeks of deliberation.

The club’s director of football negotiations Matt Hargreaves flew to Florence to get the deal over the line.

He is now expected to bring Amrabat back with him on a private jet which is due to leave Florence around 15:35pm this afternoon.

Amrabat had other options on the table but he was determined to seal his move to Manchester United, however long it took.

Nottingham Forest and Fulham are understood to have made moves but Amrabat wanted the Red Devils.

The Morocco international played under Erik ten Hag during his time at FC Utrecht in Holland many years ago.

United have been trying to clear the decks in a bid to raise some extra transfer funds but business has proven difficult.

Fred joined Fenerbahce and needed replacing while Donny van de Beek is yet to get a move away from the club.

Lorient and Galatasaray have shown loan interest in recent days after Real Sociedad failed to pull off a move.

Amrabat could be United’s third deadline day arrival following the signings of goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and left-back Sergio Reguilon on loan from Spurs.

Ten Hag confirmed the capture of the Spaniard ahead of Sunday’s trip to Arsenal, stating: “He (Reguilon) is here, he trained. He’s a very experienced player, played for big clubs, and has already played a lot of La Liga and Premier League games.

“He has a very good background, he can play very intense football, so we are happy. We had a problem with Luke Shaw injured and Tyrell Malacia injured, they are long-term out, so we responded well in that emergency situation.

“He will be in the squad as well, yeah, so happy. Now we have to keep the group, again it’s fully there. We’ve covered every position and I think we have a very good ‘keeper group arrival in Altay.”
