Man Utd could be about to sign next Roberto Firmino to give Erik ten Hag big boost
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag could be about to receive a welcome boost in his attempts to drag the Red Devils out from the depths of their current mire by signing Matheus Cunha from Atletico Madrid. The Brazilian attacker has previously drawn comparisons to Roberto Firmino and, should he seal a £42million move to Old Trafford, United fans will be hoping the 23-year-old can have a similar impact to that of his Brazilian compatriot over at Liverpool.
United are in desperate need of a pick-me-up having suffered two humiliating defeats to Brighton and Brentford in the opening two matches of their Premier League season. Having endured a demoralising summer on the transfer front too, the Red Devils are now understood to be closing in on Atletico attacker Cunha.
According to talkSPORT, a bid in the region of £42m has been accepted by the La Liga club for the forward, who can also be deployed on the wing. In fact, the versatile star’s style of play has even seen him likened to Liverpool hero Firmino.
Not only are the pair forward players, but they are both credited with honing their trades on the streets of Brazil. Like Firmino, Cunha possesses Samba flare in abundance, while he also obtains speed and intelligence to identify and exploit spaces in between the lines.
