The father of Brighton star Alexis Mac Allister has revealed that ‘clubs are starting to call’ to sign his son ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Argentine has emerged as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and he’s taking his game to the next level for club and country this term.

The 24-year-old’s scored nine times in 26 appearances this season for the Seagulls and he was instrumental in Argentina’s World Cup-winning side in Qatar in December.

Mac Allister is in his fourth season on the south coast but he signed a new long-term deal shortly before the World Cup started, which ties him to the club until at least 2025.

Nevertheless, there was interest in the midfielder in January as Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United were linked with his services.

‘Clubs are starting to call us for Alexis but there are no concrete talks now,’ Carlos Mac Allister told ESPN.

‘We’ll decide together with Brighton, they deserve respect. We will pick the best project, based on the coach too — it’s not about money.’

Chelsea invested £107m in Enzo Fernandez in January but the likes of N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek could all leave at the end of the season.

Manchester United are interested in Jude Bellingham but they’re outsiders for the Englishman’s signature, with Real Madrid and Manchester City leading the race.
