Man United told they can recoup £72.9m Jadon Sancho fee after transfer ‘mistake’

Manchester United will remain ‘patient’ with Jadon Sancho – but there is also a market to recoup the £72.9million they splashed out to Borussia Dortmund.

That’s according to pundit and former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann, who admits he is astonished that United haven’t given Sancho more game-time this season.

A move four years in the making, the England forward returned to the UK during the summer window.

However, as Sancho continues to play second fiddle to Cristiano Ronaldo and others, the 21-year-old has yet to score or provide a single assist for the Premier League giants.

That lack of attacking output has, ultimately, cost him a place in the latest Three Lions squad.

Hamann, who also played for Newcastle during his time on these shores, doesn’t think that United will be worried about their outlay, right now, although Sancho might see the transfer as a ‘mistake’ on his part.

So what next for the former Manchester City prospect?

Speaking as part of a promotion for Free Super Tips, ex-Germany midfielder Hamann said: “From his point of view, it’s probably a mistake, but from the club’s point of view, they’ll keep patience for now.

“They paid a lot of money for him, but if they do decide to sell then they will recoup most of that money, because there will be a market for him.

“At the moment it seems like a big misunderstanding.

Didi Hamann has shared his views on the Jadon Sancho transfer ‘mistake’.

“Having watched him at Dortmund for a couple of years, he did wonderful things.”

Hamann added: “I was very surprised [Gareth] Southgate hardly picked him in the Euros and I’m astonished that he doesn’t feature right now for Manchester United.

“A lot has been said about the manager [Ole Gunnar Solskjaer], but I don’t think we should be putting blame on him, because the player might not be performing.

“It’s a strange situation, I’ve got to say.”
