Man United sent clear message as Harry Kane linked with transfer

Manchester United fans are not at all convinced by reports suggesting the Reds could make a fresh approach for Harry Kane.

The Mirror claim United are considering making a move for the Tottenham striker during the summer transfer window. The report suggests Kane could link back up with his former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is one of the frontrunners to be appointed as the club’s permanent manager.

Kane came close to joining Manchester City last summer, but ended up staying put in north London after Tottenham held firm. And with the Blues looking to be in pole position to sign Erling Haaland, United are said to be watching developments closely.

The England captain has been linked with a move to Old Trafford previously, although City’s interest last summer looked to have ended any hopes of United signing him. But with interim boss Ralf Rangnick outlining a new striker as one of the Reds’ priorities for the summer, Kane could be back in the conversation.

United fans though are not convinced. Reacting to the report on social media, many feel it could prove to be another misstep for their club in the transfer market, especially considering how much Tottenham would demand for their prize asset.

Kane has rediscovered some of his best form in recent weeks with Spurs, having started the season slowly following his summer transfer saga. The striker though remains keen on winning silverware, having been unable to do so with his current club.

The 28-year-old will have two years left on his contract at the end of the current season. While Tottenham have shown no willingness to sell their striker, they could find themselves having to make a decision or risk Kane running down his deal.
