Man United learn new Nunez fee as Pogba representative ‘jets out’ for talks
Manchester United have been handed a double boost in their pursuit for Benfica forward Darwin Nunez, according to reports. Elite clubs from across Europe continue to monitor the 22-year-old amid him scoring 34 goals in 41 games for the Portuguese side this season.
Change is on the horizon at Old Trafford as Erik ten Hag prepares to take over as manager. His appointment comes as part of a wider shake-up behind the scenes and will prompt a massive summer rebuild.
The Manchester Evening News understands a new centre-back and holding midfielder are at the top of the agenda, but there could be further recruits in attacking quarters, too. Nunez has been mooted in that regard after a stellar return for Benfica, not only domestically but in the Champions League.

Indeed, the Uruguay international netted six goals in the marquee European competition. According to The Athletic, the versatile frontman will command a fee around £51million this summer.
That is significantly lower than the figure that was first mooted and offers up a double boost to United and possible suitors across the board. Benfica manager Nelson Verissimo has already accepted Nunez is almost-certainly ready to pursue a departure during the upcoming window.
Elsewhere, it has been reported that a representative for Paul Pogba has flown to Turin to discuss a return move to Juventus. Ten years after his initial transfer to the Italian giants, the World Cup winner is yet again available on a free when his United contract expires at the end of next month.
Speculation over Pogba and his next switch is never too far away. Big-spending French side Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are also understood to be in the market for the 29-year-old midfielder.
However, amid suggestions Juventus are heavy favourites to re-sign a player who spent four years there previously, reports in the Telegraph take that interest a step further by claiming representative, Rafaela Pimenta, has jetted into Turin to discuss a second free transfer there for Pogba.
