Man rushed to hospital after being hit by car outside Tube station

A man has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car outside a South London Tube station this evening.

The Metropolitan Police was called by London Ambulance Service to Harleyford Street, outside Oval Tube station, at around 9.30pm today (January 7).

They attended the scene following reports of the crash.

A picture taken at the scene shows Harleyford Street cordoned off by police, and an eyewitness reported seeing a man being put on a stretcher.

A spokesperson for the Met told MyLondon: “Police were called at 9.27pm by LAS to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian near Oval tube station.

“The man was taken to hospital, and his injuries are not life-threatening or life-changing.

“There have been no arrests and road closures have been lifted.”

Inrix reported that traffic was building up around the scene following the crash, but has since been cleared.
