Man reveals airport hack that lets you dodge crowds when heading for your flight

A TIKTOKER has revealed a clever airport hack that he uses to avoid queues and crowds when heading to his boarding gate.

Passing through an airport can be stressful, especially when it’s rammed with holidaymakers trying to get away at the same time.

However, on a recent trip to Heathrow Terminal 5, one traveller stumbled across a “secret walkway” that he used to get to his gate without having to use the airport shuttle services.

Duncan Martin (@duncanrmartin) was delighted to find the underground passage and decided to share footage of it with his Tiktok followers.

In the video, he revealed how he took the lift at the airport terminal down to level -4, where there’s a pathway that leads to both the B and C departure gates, meaning he didn’t have to cram himself into a busy transit train with other people.

While showing footage from in the airport lift, he said: “At London Heathrow T5, everyone gets out to use the transit.

“But..did you know that if you go down to level -4 there’s a secret walkway to the B and C gates that hardly anyone knows about.”

Duncan showed a sign in the lift that revealed level -4 is labelled “walkway” then filmed himself walking through the underground passage along a travelator, on his way to his departure gate.

His video has since been seen more than 227,000 times, but not everyone is quite as convinced by his “hack” as he is.

One wrote: “‘Secret Walkway’ mate it’s signposted.”

Another said: “A secret sign posted walkway that will take you 15 minutes longer to get to your gate.”

A third added: “Why make your journey more difficult all the way to C gates?”

However, some people appreciated the walkway and said it would be a good idea to have a stroll before their flight.

One said: “Great way to get in steps before and after flying.”

Another agreed, adding: “It’s usually a very quiet walk to B or C. Prefer it instead of the train. Getting my steps up as well!”

While Duncan’s tip might cut the amount of time passengers spend waiting to board their plane, other travellers have revealed how to make sure you get your luggage first at the other end.

Waiting at baggage carousels is one of the worst aspects of travel, but some people believe you can control when your bags are loaded onto the conveyor belt.

Thomas Lo Sciuto is a baggage handler and insists that passengers can speed up luggage collection by making sure they are among the last passengers to check in.

The ramp worker and gate agent at a US airport said it means their bags are loaded onto the plane last.

This results in their luggage being first to come off at the destination airport.

Another way to push your bags to the front of the queue is to pick up a free “fragile” sticker at the airport and slap it onto your bags.

Thomas said that luggage with these stickers on will often go onto the plane last, again meaning they will be first onto the belt after landing.

Meanwhile, this young boy was filmed throwing bags off the carousel at an airport.

And these are the luggage mistakes passengers make when checking their bags in at airports.
