Man resorts to drastic method after his suitcase is too big for Ryanair cabin

A FUMING Ryanair passenger has been filmed carrying his clothes onto a flight after he was told his suitcase was too big.

The budget airline has one of the strictest hand luggage policies, with people required to pay extra to bring bigger bags on board.

Passenger Graeme Macaskill found this out the hard way when he tried to take a suitcase onto his flight that was bigger than the airline’s accepted size.

In a video shared to Tiktok, Graeme (@graeme.angusmac) is seen emptying his case in the airport, next to Ryanair airport staff members.

The passenger is then seen carrying his belongings onto the plane by hand and throwing them into the seat next to his.

Graeme claims that “this was more convenient for Ryanair” as he gets onto the plane.

He says: “So we’re here on a Ryanair flight. They say I can’t carry this bag on. I have to empty the case and carry my clothes on by hand onto this plane.

“What an outrageous suggestion.”

The passenger is then seen telling the airline staff: “This is embarrassing” and “this is pathetic” before boarding his flight.

After getting on the plane, Graeme appears to be offered carrier bags by flight attendants, who seemed to be more sympathetic about the situation.

The video has been seen more than a million times since it was shared, receiving 49,000 likes.

Sun Online Travel has approached Ryanair for comment.

Instances like this have forced passengers to be creative when it comes to taking more hand luggage on board planes.

One Tiktok user successfully made it on to her flight with an extra bag full of clothing, that she managed to keep hidden from airport staff, by pretending she was pregnant.

Mica, who is known on Tiktok as @nyb.rmg, showed how she strapped a bag to the front of her body, which she then covered with a hoodie and a thick coat.

The video was captioned “I refuse to pay $60 for carry on” suggesting she saved around £51 with the hack.

The trick seemed to work, with Mica later filming herself next to the plane, having made it past gate staff.

Another passenger showed how she got around Ryanair’s rules and avoided having to fork out for extra luggage by using a pillow case.

In a video on Tiktok, a user who goes by the name @freiavi revealed how she removed the insides from her pillow and filled the case with extra clothing.

The video was captioned: “POV you’ve just booked a Ryanair flight, without wanting to pay for extra luggage” and shows her taking her pillow through airport security and onto the plane.

It ends with Freia dumping her smuggled clothing out onto her hotel bed, with her tactic proving to have been successful.

While the videos show people sneaking bags onto planes, the chances are flight attendants have spotted them, but they just aren’t that bothered about it.

One cabin crew member told Sun Online Travel that they are often impressed by the hacks.

They said: “It’s a money making scheme too and the fact that every single passenger has the option to bring more luggage onto the aircraft shows that there’s probably enough room.

“If every single passenger starts doing it, we’ll likely have problems, because even with smaller bags, the weight would add up.

“But we’re not at that stage yet and at the moment, it’s really not as much of a big deal.

“Personally, I’ve been inspired – I’m all about saving money wherever I can.

“Even as flight attendants, we have to ask our manager if we want to bring any extras on board, so I totally sympathise.”

Meanwhile, this packing hack will ensure travellers never leave anything important behind when going away.

There are also handy devices to help pack your clothes down smaller so you can fit more in your bag.
