Man makes full Christmas dinner for family of six for just £24
It’s meant to be a joyful event that is loved and enjoyed, but with costs rising, many of us are anxious about the spiralling cost of Christmas dinner this year.
However, when there is a will (and a savvy shopper) there is a way.
One man has shared how to cook an entire Christmas Day feast for under £24.
He started with the all important turkey, picking up a small crown for just £13.99.
Next, he found sage and onion stuffing for just 43p and a packet of gravy granules for 95p.
Yorkshire pudding fans can rejoice as he purchased a pack of 12 for just 79p.
Meanwhile, his vegetables were also a steal.
The smart saver found a bag of carrots for 45p, Brussel sprouts for 69p and some frozen duck-fat roast potatoes for £2.39.
And the feast didn’t end there.
For dessert, he chose a Christmas pudding for £3.69 and some vanilla custard for 55p.
In total, the bill came to £23.93 and fed a family of six.
Viewers were impressed with the affordable feed.
‘Good enough dinner. Plenty would be glad to have this at Christmas,’ wrote one user.
Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi says that the brand’s Christmas range is now on sale which means people can stock up on time and spread the cost.
‘Thanks to our already everyday low prices, Aldi shoppers can buy everything they need to feed a family of six for under £25, including turkey, pigs in blankets, roasties and plenty of veg,’ she tells metro.co.uk
‘Everything is suitable to be frozen, meaning shoppers don’t need to worry about keeping food fresh all the way up to Christmas Day and can enjoy the high quality food they expect from Aldi for just £3.91 a serving.
‘At Aldi, ensuring excellent quality at the best possible value is at the core of what we stand for.
‘We believe that this should also run true throughout the festive period, as well as in everyday life, so we’re focused on allowing shoppers to get a good quality Christmas dinner without breaking the bank.’
