Man left with head injury after being attacked with weapon in ‘disorder’

A man was left with a head injury after being attacked with a weapon in a ‘disorder’ in Oldham.

Officers were called to the scene of the incident on Coleridge Road just after 1.10am this morning (Sunday). A man was found injured at the scene.

Police said his head injury – which is not believed to be life-threatening – was suspected to have been caused by a weapon. Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident.

They are both being questioned in custody on suspicion of section 18 assault. The M.E.N understands that a section of the street was cordoned off by police in the early hours.

The cordon had been lifted by around 9am this morning, though some police tape remained at the scene. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: “Officers were called just after 1.10am today (22 May 2022) to a report of a disorder on Coleridge Road in Oldham. Emergency services attended and a male received a head injury suspected to have been caused by a weapon. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

“Two males have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault. They remain in custody at this time.
