The Ferrari F340 was produced between 2004 to 2009 and can cost as much as £180,000 – much more than an MR2.

A spokesperson from the Italian Guardia di Fianza said in a statement: “The police operation was in coordination with the Asti prosecutor.”

“We aim to protect national production, especially in this case when they stand out for their high quality and for being one of the best known and most appreciated symbols of the Italian style in the world.”

The man was charged with using trademarked elements without authorisation.

Despite having done something illegal, some people on social media think he is a hero.

One Facebook user said: “I want the contact of that Genius.

“I want him to make me a Skoda R5 on a Panda Hybrid chassis! He has talent!”

Another said: “Congratulations to this artist!”
