Man claims ‘left with broken nose following incident involving bouncers’
A man claims he was left with a broken nose and bruises after an incident involving bouncers outside a nightclub in Manchester’s Gay Village. Dan, 20, who asked for his surname not to be published, shared photos of his injuries with the Manchester Evening News but asked for them not to be reproduced.
He says he went for something before heading on an evening out, finishing his night at Bloom nightclub in the Gay Village in the early hours of Friday, June 4. Dan claims that after ‘getting into a heated discussion with someone’ in the smoking area outside the building, he was pushed backwards.
He says a ‘group’ of bouncers then ‘grabbed’ him and ‘slammed’ him onto the floor. Dan says he hit his head. He claims one of his friends told him a security guard ‘repeatedly’ hit him. Dan says he was ‘knocked out completely’ and that when he came round, he was taken into a back room by a staff member.

He says he was picked up by his mum, who took him to A&E, where he had a CT scan. Dan was told he had a broken nose. Greater Manchester Police said the incident was reported and that an investigation is ongoing.
A Manchester council spokesman said: “We can confirm that we’re aware of this incident.”
In a statement, the venue apologised on behalf of the security company it uses and offered ‘deepest apologies to the people involved’. A spokesperson said the parties involved were ‘instantly dismissed’.
Dan told the Manchester Evening News : “We had been to several clubs that night – me and two other friends – and we were having a great time. I have been to Bloom before to end the night as it stays open later than other places in Manchester so it is a good place to head to at the end. At some point at around 4am, I was in the smoking area outside.
“My memory of what happened isn’t complete, but I remember getting into a heated discussion with someone, who pushed me backwards. After that, a group of bouncers just grabbed me and slammed me down onto the floor.
“I hit my head badly and was told by one of my friends a bouncer was repeatedly hitting me. I thought it only lasted a few seconds, but I was knocked out completely. When I got back up, I was taken into a back room with my friend and a staff member.
“My mum picked me up and we went straight to A&E. I was given CT scans, and I went into a shock. I was just so dazed and disorientated by it all. I was told I had a broken nose in two places and it was bleeding on and off for two days.
“My face is absolutely covered in black and yellow bruises all over and my head is covered in lumps. I don’t even want to go out because of how I look. We’d had such a good night together and then this happened at the end. I was having multiple panic attacks the day after.”
In a statement, a spokesperson for Bloom said: “We apologise on behalf of our external security company and offer our deepest apologies to the people involved. The incident that happened outside our venue does not reflect who we are as people or what Bloom Nightclub represents.
“The security team are fully co-operating with the investigation into the incident with the parties involved being instantly dismissed. We are working closely with the security company and Manchester City Council to make sure that the venue continues to be a safe space for people in our community.
“We have been in constant contact with the victim’s mother and we offer both the victim and their family any support.”
