Man City launch official complaint after Liverpool fan ‘spits at coaching staff’

Manchester City want a full investigation after a Liverpool fan allegedly spat at their coaching staff during their 2-2 Premier League draw on Sunday evening. The incident apparently occurred when the City staff were celebrating Phil Foden’s late equaliser.

After a goalless first half, Sadio Mane put Liverpool ahead after a superb run and pass from Mohamed Salah.

Moments later Phil Foden was picked out in the left-hand side of the penalty area and he drilled the ball low across goal into the bottom corner.

That sparked great celebrations from the City bench, and they were subsequently spat on, the visitors claim.

After the match Pep Guardiola said: “In every club there are people like this. Some can’t control their emotions. I am pretty sure Liverpool FC will sort it.”

Liverpool went on to take the lead again when Salah beat four defenders before finding the side netting with his right foot from an acute angle.

It looked like the hosts were going to old out for all three points until Kevin De Bruyne’s shot from the edge of the box was deflected beyond Alisson for the equaliser.
