Man City boss Pep Guardiola takes aim at Liverpool owners FSG
Liverpool have had a fairly quiet transfer window this summer, only bringing in Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig for £36m to ease the pressure on their defence. Meanwhile, Manchester City broke the British transfer record to land Jack Grealish for more than £100m from Aston Villa.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola took aim at Liverpool owners FSG over their lack of spending this summer.
The Sky Blues broke the British transfer record earlier this summer to bring in Jack Grealish for more than £100m, following up the £145m they spent 12 months ago on the likes of Rúben Dias and Ferran Torres.
By contrast, Jurgen Klopp’s only acquisition this summer has been the £36m capture of Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig as he looks to avoid a defensive crisis this season.
Diogo Jota also joined last summer to provide more firepower in attack, but overall the Reds have held back from astronomical fees despite their huge success over the last few years.

Liverpool lost Gini Wijnaldum earlier this summer on a free transfer, and the Dutchman is yet to be replaced despite being a key player in recent years.
So following an underwhelming year last term, City boss Guardiola has called into question the lack of investment at Anfield.
“I am not judging what other clubs do,” he said. “But some owners want to benefit – and our owners don’t want any benefits.
