Man arrested after woman suffers ‘significant burn and stab injuries’ in street
A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following an incident in Bury.
Police were originally called to Brandlesholme Road, following reports of a woman with a knife making threats, on Wednesday night.
When officers arrived, they found the woman with ‘significant’ burn and stab injuries.

She was arrested on suspicion of attempt section 18 assault and taken to hospital, where she remains serious but stable.
A 56-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and released on bail.
An investigation is now underway and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have asked anyone with information to come forward.
A GMP spokesman said: “Police were called around 10.45pm on Wednesday 19 January 2022 to Brandlesholme Road, Bury to a report of a woman with a knife making threats.
“Emergency services attended but the woman had fled on foot in the direction of Bury.
“She was later located on Brandlesholme Road, and arrested on suspicion of attempt section 18 assault.
“She was taken to hospital with significant burn and stab injuries where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
“A 56-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has since been released on bail.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
