Mamma mia! ‘Super Mario Bros. Movie’ wins the box office game

That’s a lot of gold coins.

“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” swept the box office on Friday.

The computer-animated adventure flick, which is based on the Nintendo video game franchise, raked in $55 million, according to IMDB’s Box Office Mojo.

The film, which The Post called “lousy,” opened on Wednesday, ahead of the holiday weekend.

It is projected to enjoy a $368 million opener, which would make it the biggest ever for an animated film, surpassing “Frozen,” according to Deadline.

The beloved Italian-American brothers from the series, Mario and Luigi, are voiced by Chris Pratt and Charlie Day.

The rest of its star-studded ensemble includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black, Keegan-Michael Key, Seth Rogen, Fred Armisen and Sebastian Maniscalco.

The sports drama “Air,” which chronicles the story of Michael Jordan’s sneaker line, landed in second, with just over $5 million in sales.

The Post called the movie, which stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, “a slam dunk.”
