Makoto Shinkai Film Festival to Take Place in India this May; Will Feature Five of the Director’s Films

PVR Pictures has announced the Makoto Shinkai Film Festival, which will screen films such as Children Who Chase Lost Voices, 5 Centimeters Per Second, Your Name, Weathering With You, and Suzume. The films will be screened in cinemas from May 19 onwards. The films will be screened in Japanese audio with English subtitles.

The Makoto Shinkai Film Festival is held in collaboration with the Japanese Film Festival India, The Japan Foundation, and CoMix Wave Films. The film schedule and locations have not been announced yet.

This comes after Shinkai’s latest film, Suzume, launched in India on April 21. The director, who has a significant fan following among the anime fandom in the country, visited India for a special screening, where he answered questions from fans in a special Q&A session. The film also received a Hindi dub as well as early fan screenings on April 9, a whole two weeks before the official nationwide release.
