Make sacrifices for country, PM Modi tells BJP workers

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed political parties which ‘promoted dynastic politics’, alleging they worked against democratic norms and gave primacy to a family over national interest. Addressing BJP workers across the country on the 42nd anniversary of BJP’s founding, Modi urged his party cadre to make all sacrifices for people’s welfare.

“For us, national policy (rashtraniti) and politics (rajniti) go hand in hand. There are two kinds of politics in the country today: parivarwad bhakti (dedication to dynastic politics) and rashtra bhakti (dedication to the nation). Members of some parties, from the lower rungs to Parliament, are working only for one family,” Modi alleged.

‘Dynastic parties’ do not let the youth get their due, Modi alleged. “BJP is the only party which does not promote family politics. Gradually the people have realised that these parties were harming the country. Such parties do not respect democratic values and constitutional norms,” he alleged. Modi praised BJP workers for their ‘dedication to the country and the people’. He said some of them ‘sacrificed their lives’ while performing their duties. “This mahayagya will continue till we achieve our goals,” Modi said, urging party workers to ensure social justice, welfare schemes and party programmes were taken to the last man in the queue.

The global order was fast changing fast and creating new opportunities for India, the PM said. Party members should spread the message about government’s achievements in ‘providing health, good governance, security, gas connections, electricity, rations’ for the people. This has impressed women whose trust in BJP has grown over the years as they were empowered, including economically, he claimed. Modi said in three decades a party had 100 MPs in the Rajya Sabha.

“Every BJP worker should see himself as a representative and spread the word about the work done… Today the country is both a decisive and a determined power,” he said. Modi mentioned ‘free grain to 80 crore poor people’, ujjwala and affordable housing transformed people’s life. This has ‘ended appeasement politics’ and bias in governance, he claimed. Parties engaged in vote bank politics earlier and discriminated against people, something BJP governments have ended, he claimed.
