Major Freeview update brings popular new channels to more TVs this week
Anyone with Freeview in their living rooms is set for a major revamp this week with a popular channel becoming available across the whole of the UK. Until now, GREAT! Romance was only available to view for free in certain areas of Britain but that’s all changing with the platform going nationwide from Wednesday, July 19. According to the distributor of this service, GREAT! Romance is the fastest-growing channel in the UK this year after its launch in January.
When the channel goes live later this week, anyone with a Freeview box will get access to a swathe of extra content including movies and shows that star famous faces such as A-listers like Chris Evans and Liam Hemsworth.
Here are some of the things available after the nationwide launch on Wednesday: Valentine In The Vineyard, Love On The Menu, Paris, Wine & Romance, Love & Honor, Playing It Cool, Love At First Sight
If you fancy tuning in you should find the channel will be live in slot 52 from this Wednesday.

Along with some extra romance being beamed into living rooms, more Freeview users are also getting access to the POP MAX children’s service.
The popular channel has previously been available on digital satellite, so this change will be good news, especially with the school holidays about to start.
POP MAX is aimed at 6-10 year-olds and airs a whole host of child-friendly shows such as Miraculous, Skylanders Academy, and Total DramaRama.
POP will be available on Free TV in local regions and will be accessible nationwide via the recently launched POP Kids FAST channel and POP Player app, which is available to view on TV via red button, tablet and mobile.
If you are struggling to find these updates on Wednesday then you might need to retune your telly.
It’s pretty simple to do and takes a matter of minutes to complete the update.
HOW TO RETUNE YOUR TV
Retuning is pretty straightforward, and while it may vary slightly depending on which device you have, it usually includes the following steps:
To retune…
• Press menu on your box or TV remote control
Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’ or a similar option. If you’re asked for a password, the default code is ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.
• Select ‘first-time installation’ (sometimes called ‘factory reset’, ‘full retune’ or ‘default settings’).
• Press ‘OK’ if your equipment asks if it’s OK to delete existing channels and then your retune should start automatically. If you’re prompted to, save the channels that are found.
