Major airline slammed by passenger for ‘underwhelming’ & basic in-flight meal

A FURIOUS customer has slammed a major airline after they were served ONE item for their in-flight meal.

Kris Chari was sorely disappointed when a stewardess presented her with only a banana for the main course.

This was the vegan option on board the Japan Airlines flight, leaving passengers like Kris absolutely fuming – and starving.

She expressed her disbelief on a forum called Flyer Talk and wrote: “I mistakenly assumed she meant that breakfast included a banana.

“When she served the banana after take-off I thought it was just an underwhelming appetizer, but it was in fact the entire meal service.

“It was a really good banana—one of the best I’ve had recently—but it still seems more appropriate as a snack.

“Lunch was barely seasoned spaghetti and my meals on other Japan Airlines flights were also bad, but nothing was quite as insubstantial this.

“It was cute of the crew to serve the banana with chopsticks, though.”

This comes as hundreds of passengers are left disappointed with their in-flight food.

Including one British Airways customer who was outraged at the sandwiches presented to him.

Rafal Smaszcz, 42, who flew from London Heathrow to Frankfurt on a £520 flight shared a photo of his “greasy” sandwich, served in a crumpled paper bag on Twitter.

He wrote: “We all know about Covid and certain restrictions, but if you charge for business class ticket same as before lockdown do you really think that this can be acceptable to serve as a business class meal?”

“I was in disbelief. Honestly, a sandwich bought on Ryanair flight of the trolley looks better,” he later added.

“The brown bag was tatty and with oily stains and the sandwich looked like it was squashed.

“I understand that Coronavirus puts certain limitations on food operation but this is taking advantage, yet charging standard business class prices.”

Stewart Cunningham from Aberdeen had a similar complaint after shelling out £420 for his London to Warsaw flight.

He shared a photo of his “below standard” chicken sandwich and complained to the airline.

The 35-year-old said: “I thought it was quite frankly embarrassing for the crew to have to serve a sandwich which came in a brown bag covered in the grease.

“Their aim to protect passengers against COVID is laudable and their aircraft are much cleaner.

“However, when you see the cabin crew prepare hot meals for the pilots served on proper plates with proper cutlery, it does make you wonder why, if a full service is fine for flight crew, it isn’t for paying passengers.”

An EasyJet flyer was horrified when they were served the “worst airline food ever.”

Alex was flying from Paris to London Gatwick and paid £7 for the meal deal – a Roasted Vegetable and Hummus Baguette with a bottle of water.

But he couldn’t believe his eyes when the stewardess served a sparsely filled sandwich with just five tiny chunks of pepper and two slithers of aubergine.

He shared the video on social media last week, writing: “Is this the worst airline food and advertising you’ve ever seen?

Speaking later, Alex added: “I was in disbelief at first. It is the sort of stuff you hear about with airline food. I spoke to the crew and asked for another sandwich.

“The flight attendant told me ‘not to be surprised’ and that pictures rarely reflect reality. They gave me another and it was pretty much as bad.”
