Madonna’s boyfriend shares poignant post about ‘living’ after singer’s ICU stay
Madonna’s boxer boyfriend Josh Popper took to Instagram with an emotional message after it was confirmed the 64-year-old singer had been rushed to a hospital’s intensive care unit with a serious bacterial infection.
The 29-year-old shared a selection of photographs in the boxing ring along with the caption: “‘Give yourself permission to live a big life. Step into who you were meant to be. Stop playing small. You are meant for greater things’.
“Thank you to my coach @fftstrong, my family, and the Bredwinners team for being by my side.”
Madonna has been forced to postpone her upcoming world tour after the “serious” infection led to “a several day stay” in intensive care.
Her manager, Guy Oseary, said her health is improving and a full recovery is expected, but she is still under medical care.
It was reported that the Queen of Pop was found “unresponsive” in her New York home on Saturday before being rushed to hospital and intubated overnight, according to the New York Post.
Her daughter, Lourdes, 26, reportedly stayed by her bedside throughout the frightening ordeal.
Madonna’s relative has said that the family were “preparing for the worst” and “everyone believed we may lose her”.
They told the Daily Mail: “All of Madonna’s family members have come together over this. This really woke her the f*** up.
“She has not been living as healthy a life as she should be for her age, and she has been wearing herself thin over the past couple of months.
“She thinks that she is still young when, in fact, she is not. She also believes that she is invincible.”
Madonna has spent months rehearsing for The Celebration Tour The hotly-anticipated concerts were set to kick off in Vancouver on July 15 and last for seven months.
It was previously reported that she was rehearsing “six days a week” in a bid to make the show “perfect”.
A source told the aforementioned publication: “Madonna is really turning it out. It may be her last tour, so she wants to make it perfect. She is incredible shape and her body is sick.
“This is her labour of love. Her perfectionism is driving everyone up the wall but she does not care. The crew is working their a** off because everyone wants to make her happy.”
