St Kilda coach Ross Lyon has been forced to address his playing group after an embarrassing gaffe saw a file containing audio from the coaches’ box accidentally uploaded to a league-wide folder.
The incident occurred after St Kilda’s pre-season clash against Essendon last Friday, with the upload taking place on Saturday morning.
According to St Kilda, the file remained available to rival clubs for several hours before it was taken down and replaced with a muted version, as is standard AFL protocol.

“This upload occurred through human error, which was corrected as soon as we were notified,” St Kilda’s interim football boss David Misson said in a club statement on Wednesday evening.
“There is no certainty that this file has been accessed and downloaded by anybody, however, regardless of the low risk, we wanted to be on the front foot and proactive in our response.
“Our focus is on creating a program with high integrity, open communication and care for our people.
“As a matter of course, we addressed this issue directly with our playing group.”
Lyon is in the first season of his second stint as St Kilda’s senior coach after being re-installed at the end of last season following a three-season stint out of the coaching circle.
St Kilda will open its home and away season by facing Lyon’s former side Fremantle at Marvel Stadium in round one.
