Lupita Nyong’o pays tribute to late Chadwick Boseman on anniversary
Lupita Nyong’o has marked the anniversary of Chadwick Boseman‘s death with a heartfelt tribute.
The actor died two years ago, on August 28 2020.
The actress, 39, who starred alongside the late actor in Black Panther, posted a video on Twitter on Sunday, showing him meeting fans during their promotional tour of the blockbuster film
‘Chadwick, what are you doing?’ Lupita asked in the clip to which he replied: ‘I’m signing tickets.
‘I signed somebody’s shoes over there…’ he added, saying he signed ‘a pair of Jordans’ which he found funny because he didn’t play basketball.
‘Why do you think they asked you?’ Lupita asked from behind the camera.
‘I don’t know!’ he replied. ‘I have no idea.’
The actress captioned the clip: ‘Kept it real, kept it kind.’
Fellow Black Panther star Winston Duke liked the post, commenting: ‘Incredibly generous man… always sharing and helping and giving and loving… ugh… my heart…
‘Ure missed beyond any words my brother… love love! Thanks, Lupita for posting our treasure… man oh man!’
Boseman’s on-screen sister in the superhero film, British actress Letitia Wright, also acknowledged the post with three heart emojis.
The star tragically died in summer 2020 at the age of 43 after a long private battle with colon cancer.
The upcoming Black Panther sequel, Wakanda Forever, will hit screens in November.
Lupita recently said that while it had been challenging to film without Boseman, who starred in the title role, at the helm, the process had been ‘therapeutic’.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at San Diego Comic-Con in July, she opened up about filming the highly anticipated follow-up to the 2018 film, adding: ‘It was very therapeutic. ‘
‘It restored a sense of hope for me in making it, and I think we’ve expanded the world of Wakanda in ways that will blow people’s minds — not just Wakanda, but the Black Panther world.
‘It’s going to blow people’s minds, and I just cannot wait until it’s not a secret anymore.’
Last year she also shared that she’d miss Chadwick’s ‘leadership’ most while filming Black Panther 2.
The Oscar-winner explained on the Ellen DeGeneres show: ‘It’s still so hard for me to come to terms with his passing.
‘He was my friend and so it’s hard to think of him in the past tense still.’
She continued: ‘He led the movie with such compassion and just presence.
‘When Chadwick came on set, he was present and he brought his entire being to that movie and he was just so humble as well, you know.
‘That leadership will be missed.’
