A lucky punter hit bullseye when he won more than £145,000 while on holiday – and then discovered his partner back home had won the same amount.

Mark Smith was told of his massive windfall while sunning himself alongside sports legend Mark ‘Webby’ Webster in Manilva, Spain.

The 56-year-old dad, who is mates with the 2008 world champ, learned he had won a huge share of a £3.2m prize. Then, seconds later, it was revealed that Mark’s partner Kathryn Harrop had also won the £145,454 jackpot taking the couple’s joint winnings to almost £300K.

Security guard Mark said: ‘I thought happy days, £70,000 each. But then I was like, “Oh my God!”

‘I’m 17 stone six foot two, a big lad, and I did get quite emotional.’

Mark works for Modus Sports Management and looks after darts superstars, including the current world number three Michael Van Gerwen.

He said Webster, who is nicknamed ‘The Spider’, was sitting right next to him when he got the call.

Mark added: ‘He was just shaking his head and saying, “it’s unbelievable”, and that he was so pleased for me.

‘We’re going to a beach bar tonight for my mate’s 60th and I’ll be putting a few bottles of champagne behind the bar.’

The lucky pair were just two of eleven residents in Middleton, Greater Manchester, who were surprised by Postcode Lottery ambassador Jeff Brazier on Saturday and told they had won the top prize.

HR manager Kathryn, 50, who had plans to go on a hen do that evening, said: ‘I’ll definitely be having some champagne tonight. I would have had a good time anyway but I am going to have an amazing time now.

‘I didn’t really get to celebrate my 50th birthday as my dad wasn’t very well. I think I’ll take the family away somewhere nice and then go on a girls’ trip. I deserve one!’

The couple have decided they will spend some of the money on renovating their garden, while Mark says he is scrapping his plans for a man cave to make way for a “man mansion”.
