Lualhati Bautista passes away at 77

MANILA, Philippines — Renowned writer and novelist Lualhati Bautista died at the age of 77 on Sunday morning, according to a relative.
“Sad News for our Torres Clan, Our first cousin Lualhati Bautista died at 77 yrs old this morning,” her relative said in a Facebook post.
Bautista was a novelist best known for works: Dekada ’70; Bata, Bata, Pa’no Ka Ginawa?; and Gapo.
Apart from being a novelist, Bautista was also a screenplay writer with her film “Bulaklak sa City Jail,” starring Nora Aunor, which won best story and best screenplay at the Metro Manila Film Festival in 1984.
