Love Me, first original series from Binge, reveals premiere date

Streamer Binge has revealed the premiere date for its first original series.

Streamer Binge* has revealed its first original series, Love Me, which premiere on December 26, with all six episodes available at once.

Romantic drama Love Me stars Hugo Weaving, Bojana Novakovic (Instinct, Shameless) and William Lodder (Wakefield, Go) as three members of the Mathieson family and their exploits and anxieties in finding love.

Father Glen (Weaving) is rediscovering love and intimacy in his older age while 20-something son Aaron (Lodder) is navigating love while facing an identity crisis. And daughter Clara is panicking that as she’s approaching 40, she may have prioritised her career at the expense of family.

Weaving said in a statement: “Love Me is a wonderful celebration of family, love and personal liberation set in contemporary Melbourne. I hugely enjoyed playing the dutiful, recessive Glen Mathieson, father to Clara and Aaron, as he finds himself navigating a course through grief into the excitement of an unexpected and transformative love.

“Working with director Emma Freeman was an absolute delight.”

Love Me also stars Shalom Brune-Franklin, Sarah Peirse, Heather Mitchell, Bob Morley and Celia Pacquola.

The series is adapted from the Swedish show Alska Mig by head writer Alison Bell. Bell is an actor and writer best known for creating The Letdown but has also appeared onscreen in New Gold Mountain, Offspring and No Activity.

Love Me is directed by Emma Freeman, one of the most acclaimed directors working in Australian TV. Freeman recently won an AACTA Award for her work on Stateless, and has also directed episodes of The Newsreader, Secret City, Tangled and Puberty Blues.

Love Me is a co-production between Foxtel Group, Warner Bros International Television Production Australia and Aquarius Films. Screen Australia and Film Victoria partially provided funding.

Producers and executive producers include Angie Fielder, Polly Staniford, Michael Brooks, Hamish Lewis, Brian Walsh, Alison Hurbert-Burns and Lana Greenhalgh.

Love Me is available to stream on Binge on December 26
