Lotto winner splashes £850,000 on cars while wife drives second-hand Volvo
A BUILDER who won £105million on the EuroMillions has forked out £850,000 on cars — but still runs around in his wife’s second-hand Volvo.
The driveway of Steve Thomson’s £4.5million country mansion resembles a Top Gear set.
It is home to three £100,000 Range Rovers, a £100,000 Tesla and a £200,000 Lamborghini-type supercar.
The 43-year-old dad of three has also splashed out on two £50,000 range-topping VW transporter vans and a £50,000 Ford Mustang.
But despite the expensive fleet, Steve still chooses to chug around in wife Lenka’s XC90.
A neighbour in his Home Counties village said: “Steve’s got a car for every day of the week. Maybe they’re buying them for the kids?”
Another local said: “He’s got at least one supercar. It’s bright green so I think it’s a Lamborghini.
“If you’ve got that sort of money you need to enjoy it — and Steve certainly he is.
“We think he’s given a lot away, so good on him for spending some on himself.”
Steve and Lenka, 42, moved into his 14.5 acre estate — complete with pool, tennis court and party barn — a year after landing the jackpot.
Until then, Steve’s only luxury was a second-hand VW van so he could honour all the building jobs he took on before his win.
He even said he planned to do any DIY himself.
The six-bedroom farmhouse, which boasts a 51ft dining room, also has its own lake house and stables. Steve declined to comment.
